Is there an echo in here?

March 4, 2010

In the very first post of this blog, I covered the dual trends of surging Taliban revenues and declining Al Qaeda revenues.

I’ve also criticized “mainstream” thinking that Al Qaeda is poorer because of tighter financial screws by U.S. Treasury and the U.N.

I’ve addressed the Taliban’s funding network and have linked to a certain New York Times article from last fall a couple times.

So, reading Victor Comras’s post on Counterterrorism Blog on Sunday was a bit like looking in a mirror.  Read it for yourself.  His arguments, sources, and conclusions are similar to mine.

  1. Clarification: Calling the similarity an “echo” was poor word choice on my part. A wise suggestion I received was that “chorus” would have been more appropriate, and that is true!

I’m delighted that I’m not the only one coming to these conclusions.
