The Kuwait Zakat House is one of the more active institutional zakat donors in the world, constantly trying to put a positive image of Islam and Kuwait across the world in places as far-flung as Uganda, Brazil, and Guyana.  Today’s blog post isn’t really a expose or a “got-you” hit piece, nor an effort to give a complete profile or description of KZH, but instead is just a little news and an effort to familiarize readers with an organization that seems to be getting a bigger profile.

KZH’s latest undertaking is a significant investment in Lebanese orphans.  (Let’s hope that these efforts are aboveboard since we know from past and current experiences in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Gaza that orphanages have been used as breeding grounds for Islamist inculcation.)

From the Kuwait Times on Apr. 9:

KZH-funded projects in Lebanon bring joy to orphans, help needy

BEIRUT: Charitable projects which Kuwait Zakat House (KZH) bankrolls in coordination with the Lebanon’s Zakat Fund of Dar Al-Fatwa are spread all over Lebanon in what brings joy to orphan children and needy families and lightens up their faces. The previous commendation was mentioned yesterday by Shaikh Dr Zuhair Kibba, Director General of the Lebanon’s Zakat Fund, while commenting on the charitable deeds carried out by KZH in Arab and Muslim countries in general, and in Lebanon in particular, and declaring a number of new projects that KZH will implement in Lebanon in order to further increase the already bright image of Kuwait in the Gem of the Mediterranean.

Taking a similar tack, Kibba announced the launching of, “orphans sponsorship project which is one of the biggest and oldest projects held in cooperation with KZH which sponsors more than 1,300 orphans who receive monthly stipends along with remunerations that are paid on special occasion like feasts.

Kibba also said that, “there is a project which KZH is still subsidizing it, namely Al-Rayaheen Plantation Project at Akaar area at a total cost of nearly $1 million, and over an area of some 40.000 square meters with a capacity of 200 cows in what offers a source of income for KZH that enables it to increase its contributions to orphans, particularly in northern Lebanon.

Further, Kibba announced a new project under construction, namely a mosque at Shaniya summer resort near to Bhamdoun town with a finance from KZH amounting to USD 1.500 million, adding that the mosque will be inaugurated by the end of this year to be added to other religious edifices bankrolled by the State of Kuwait.

Kibba also said he met, during his participation with the delegation of Lebanon’s Zakat Fund led by Adnan Al-Debs, chairman of the fund’s board of trustees at Dar Al-Fatwa, at the 20th forum on contemporary Zakat issues organized by Zakat Fund (March 15 – March 17), the delegation met Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister for Legal Affairs, and Minister of Justice, Minister Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Justice Rashed Al-Hamad, and reviewed with him new projects that will be funded by KZH.

In this respect, Kibba made clear that there are two projects that he submitted to Al-Hamad, the first is a project on constructing a kitchen for orphans sponsored by the Zakat Fund at a cost of $60,000, and the other project aims at holding Quranic contests during Ramadan month at a cost of $120,000, hoping that the two projects will be completed at the earliest.

Further, Kibba said that KZH is one of the most important centerpieces supporting Lebanon’s Zakat Fund since the latter’s establishment in 1984, noting that KZH continues its charitable deeds which are manifested in various development projects constructed in various regions for the service of orphans and needy families.

The total assistance offered by KZH to Lebanon’s Zakat Fund exceed $20 million including $1.800 paid over the past year only, and was devoted to charitable development projects. There are more than 4,000 families living all over Lebanon, and making use of the assistance provided by KZH.

  1. Let’s join it up, from what known is from this foggy picture… Kuwait finance house gathers zakat using Islamic bank outlets it opens time to time, using psuedo names[like ‘Kuwait turk bank’ in Germany ]…

Germany, as well as all other western countries allow zakat to flow across borders on name of charities and social service, for example zakat from Germany, holland, belgium ends up in kuwait, Turkey, dubai (and that too without taxiation, as islamic banks are registered as non-profit organisations) ……

and here is the scandalous part… once out of western country, there is no means to find out regarding what they did with all zakat they gathered… in the big ‘hot sauce pot’ of zakat, at least 1/6 ends up in funding Jihadis [and their families], as islamic law mandates….

oh uh, and did i forgot to point that every ramadan, when Jihad fund reallocations are at its peak, and zakat houses plans their next year budgets…. Kuwait finance house donates millions to Kuwait zakat house, and dictate zakat house [ok politically correct word is try to influence] policies zakat house must use…

    here 2M for zakat house in 2008 : http://www.ameinfo.com/162829.html

    here 3.372 in 2010 : http://www.ameinfo.com/237679.html

In the mean while, Germany banned IHH last year.. but Kuwait turk [Islamic] bank is still shamefully providing IHH with euro bank accounts, (while operating from Germany )…

  2. Why is it that Muslims claim Moses was a prophet and the 10 Commandments given to Moses by OUR HEAVENLY FATHER on Mount Sinai clearly gives OUR HEAVENLY FATHER’s Commandment not to kill while they believe in killing those who will not convert, and killing for other various reasons under Shari’a Law? Do Not Kill; there are no ifs, ands, or buts. OUR HEAVENLY FATHER, who created all in Heaven and on Earth, made that Commandment expressly clear. Any prophets to come along later have supported all those Commandments given by OUR HEAVENLY FATHER. OUR HEAVENLY FATHER is greater than absolutely everyone and absolutely everything. Do Not Kill; there are no ifs, ands, or buts. We apparently are not to kill others; that is not our purpose. Supposedly Mohammed said something different. So either Mohammed agreed with those Commandments and didn‘t actually say what he supposedly said, or Mohammed wasn’t a prophet. And if Mohammed agreed that those Commandments came from OUR HEAVENLY FATHER, then Mohammed didn’t try to argue with them or change them to fit his own agenda. Maybe that ‘Book Burning’ in the 7th century A.D. (C.E.) wasn’t just to ‘standardize’ but to ‘cover-up’ the Truth. I’m not trying to argue religion here; or trying to argue doctrine. It just does not make any sense. If Christians and Jews killed people as Muslims kill people, then most of the world would kill each other off. Do Not Kill; there are no ifs, ands, or buts. May OUR HEAVENLY FATHER’s Will Be Done.

  3. We all have our own separate Beliefs, founded in various religions, because we are individuals. It only makes sense that a situation such as this would produce various ways to praise OUR HEAVENLY FATHER, the Creator. I think my Beliefs are correct as much as you do yours.

“Everyone thinks he’s right. And some of us are so convinced that we’re even willing to fight to the death for what we believe. And with all that conviction, sincere as it may be, we keep digging ourselves in, and making that [hole] deeper and deeper, because in the final analysis, if everyone is right, then no one is right.
So what’s the answer? Don’t be so sure of your beliefs. Don’t be so quick to jump to your belief, because what you believe may not be as true as you first thought. Have the courage to filter your beliefs through the filter of common sense. Don’t take your preconceived beliefs and try to justify them rationally. Instead, use rationality to come to your beliefs . . . And whatever doesn’t make sense, have the sense to let it go. . . And if we don’t get our heads straight, it will only get worse.” -Nissim Dahan

I do not want to force anyone to believe as I do. Then it would not be your will, it would be my will. I accept Jesus Christ as my Savior. You may not. Whether you choose to believe or not is your decision, not mine. I have put my ’Beliefs’ through the ’Filter of Common Sense.’ Have You? We all are not going to have the same convictions, the same religion, or even the same beliefs about a common religion. Wanting to kill someone because they do not believe as I do, on anything, is not good. I should have the patience and tolerance to accept the fact we do not agree. Common sense.

Furthermore, there are bad elements in every religion, culture, and nation. I can not say one religion, culture, or nation is bad because of some and not all. Thus, not all Muslims are bad when a few do wrong; not all Christians are bad when a few do wrong; not all Middle-Easterners are bad when a few do wrong; not all Americans are bad when a few do wrong; etcetera. Plus I can not blame the people for what their government does. We all, worldwide, have bad politicians, bad bureaucrats, and bad military leaders. And the same is true as before. All are not to be blamed for the actions of some. Common sense.

So what is the answer? I personally agree we must stop ‘Extremism.’ Such things as killing, fighting to the death, and forcing your will upon others are extreme. I also personally agree with the ‘Golden Rule’ which should be common sense:

“Do unto others as you would have done unto you.” -Jesus Christ

We all will not agree on everything; we must accept that situation. So let people decide for themselves what is currently best for themselves. If someone wants to do something that does not affect you, then let them do it. You may not agree with what they are doing , but let them. OUR HEAVENY FATHER obviously does not want to control us. I believe we must follow that example. Do not force your will on someone else. If their actions will not affect you, then let them. Not advocating hedonism, let their will decide what is best for them. Common sense.

I’m not forcing my will on you. Why are you forcing your’s on me? May OUR HEAVENLY FATHER’s Will Be Done.

    • >>Everyone thinks he’s right. And some of us are so convinced that we’re even willing to fight to the death for what we believe.

LOL, i think Justin … you haven’t understand the problem yet… did ya ?

Thou shall not kill…. the golden rule is present in every religion except Islam…

A Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Jain saint will die to prove what he believes in.. Others will die to prove what Muslims believes in…
